Oakland's Own Queen Emily Places 5th on America's Got Talent

So the America's Got Talent season finale was on last night. Guess who didn't win? That's right Houston's Oakland's Stockton's "own" Queen Emily. Now the Record will have to find some other local angle to pound into the ground for the next couple months.

Does the Record have something going on today? I couldn't tell based on the 307 references to it in the Record this week. (OK, Google search only brings up 5, but look how god damn organized the results are.) They even invaded the fucking sports page! Funny, I don't remember the Record mentioning that same Slamson and Kings Cheerleaders when they came to Fats last year. EliteXC wishes they had gotten this kind of steady publicity. I don't exactly remember a full page feature for them. But thanks for the added meaning to the "shit noone will read" tag.

I was planning on going to the press conference the Kings had at UOP yesterday, but in true Record fashion they buried the time and location of Coach Theus' appearance in the Local Roundup section of the completly useless Sports page. I wouldn't have been able to make it anyways since I had to work at the time. But I wonder what went on there...

Holy Schnikes! An actual article about the Kings written by a Record writer? (With the exact headline I would have come up with too) Jason Anderson isn't just a pseudonym for Sam Amick right? The Record actually decided to cover a team people actually care about? I mean sure, nothing that we didn't know already was in the article. (Did you know the Kings are in the middle of a youth movement?) But hey, this is a step towards them, you know, actually covering the game when they come to they Spanos Center.

Original reporting about the closest professional sports team (minor leagues don't count. Or in the case of the Lightening, minor league teams of minor leagues.) resulted in me actually reading part of the Record's Sports page for the first time in a long fucking while. Original articles, what a novel concept.

The Record, putting important shit on the front page since...

OK, they never put important shit on the front page. Instead they put shit like this. While I guarantee this was also on the front page of a lot of newspapers across the state, it doesn't make it right. We get it, no more talky and drivey at the same time. Want to know how I know we get it and am not just talking out of my ass and speaking for Stockton as a whole? Let's go to the videotape! (or in this case, the actual article):

The Stockton-area CHP fielded an eight-officer team Tuesday to enforce the state's new law. The CHP wrote 22 tickets between roughly 6 a.m. and 5 p.m.

"They had to work really hard to get 22 of them," said Officer Scott Siria, a spokesman for the Stockton-area CHP. "Almost everyone is complying."

That's right, the Stockton CHP office felt the need to spend our tax dollars on an eight-officer team to write 22 tickets. That's roughly 3 tickets per officers. At 20 bucks a pop that's $440. Meanwhile, this shit was happening. Thanks Stockton, keep those priorities straight.
